Welcome to Walker 2 - OFUD's Revenge !
Programmed and designed by Nicholas Kingsley
Tested by Nicholas Kingsley
----------------------------------------------------
1. INTRODUCTION
"It is the year 2062, ten years after OFUD tried to take over the Earth by
threating the destruction of the first civilian space station - the Alpha 1.
I returned home a hero, or so I thought... However, rumours soon started to
spread about the leader of OFUD had escaped arrest. Investigations revealed
nothing.
The last of Earths stations, the Omega space station was due to go on-line
in 24 hours. However, all communications with the station to withdraw all
support staff have been received with static. Then all Earth transmissions
was intercepted by an unknown source.
And that's where I come in. I'm on my way to investigate possible sabotage
by the re-formed and highly dangerous OFUD (Organisation For Universal
Domination).
As the Omega station is over twice the size of the Alpha, I have been given
some help in the form of an extra person.
With this mission extra care is needed to avoid unnecersery damage to the
platform. Cause too much damage and the mission will have to be aborted
because of possible structural failure.
I will need a lot of help, and a lot of luck, especially as there is
precious little time to complete the mission."
2. THE OBJECT OF THE GAME
The object of the game is to detonate enough bombs on ecah level to avoid
structural damage. Complete one quandrant, and it's onto the next.
Some quandrants have ajoining sections, that you can move to.
But watch out for the time limit. Exceed 5 black marks for causing large
amounts of damage, and you'll find yourself being replace by some other
would-be-hero.
3. WALKER II
Walker II is (of course) the sequel to Walker 1, with the following
advantages :
A) One or two player modes
B) Smoother movement
C) Intro
4. CONTROLS
Player 1 controls the Walker marked "1", while player 2 controls the one
marked "2". Either player can use either the keyboard or a Atari-style
joystick. If using joysticks, player 1 use the one in port 0, and player 2
uses the one in port 1.
NOTE : In order to use joysticks, you will need to have loaded the joystick
module and one or two single switch joysticks

5. THE PROGRAM
Walker 2 is a multi-loading program, and consists of three parts - the intro,
the title screen, the main game.
If running from a floppy, keep the disk in the internal drive ALL THE TIME
AND DON'T WRITE PROTECT IT - DATA IS CONSTANTLY BEING WRITTEN TO AND FROM
IT.
To run this game, you will need :
A) An Archimedies computer (of course)
B) At least 1Mb - with about 460K RMA
C) And possibly 1 or 2 joysticks
You should have the following files :

6. THE INTRO
To watch the intro, select "LOAD INTRO" from the Walker 2 icon on the icon
bar. There is no way of stopping it, so you must want to watch it!
When it has finished, it will automatically load the title screen.
7. THE TITLE SCREEN
Use the mouse to select an option here. Most of the options are self
explanitory. Further options leads onto "Delete hiscore table", "Enter
password", "In-game sound effects on or off" and "Title music on or off".
Select "Start Game" to run the main program.
8. THE MAIN GAME
The main game consists of numerous levels (quadrants), some of which have
numerous sections. When each level has loaded you are told how much
time you have, the password for that level, what the maximum amount of
damage you can do (the number of bombs you can leave), and the number of
sections for the quadrant.
Player 1 has a "1" on their vechile, while Player 2 has a "2".
Complete all levels to return home a hero, but don't cause too much damage
othrwise you'll find yourself living under a new world order.
If you lose all your lives, you may be remebered in the hiscore table...
10. MISC
The game runs slower in 2 player mode.
This is the very last Walker game I'm going to do.
All levels can be completed.
Not all the hidden titles are in logical places.
11. PROBLEMS
The only known bug in the program, is when you select the "QUIT" option
on the icon bar - for some reason the finishing code isn't always
exectuted. Pressing BREAK or ESCAPE will break out of the code and
everything will be okay. It happens mostly when you enter the command
line after exiting the menu.
If a level can't be found, a message will be displayed, and you will then
be taken to title screen.
Try one player moving up a screen and the other moving down...
